Shoes for Fashioclash
Form follows function
Fashionclash is an international and interdisciplinary platform for new generation designers and artists and it is a well-known event for the talents in Europe. I was honored to participate in Fashionclash 2015. Two pairs shoes of my design were shown in this event. Those shoes were supposed to be made in a simply and plainly to meet the styles of clothes of the models.
I planned to make the shoes stand out by its handcrafted feelings and artistic quality. For this reason, I chose to make both of these shoes by carving them out with a hammer and carving knives. But before that, I would have to use a 3D drawing program, in order to make shoes fully designed in my laptop. Each shoe was planned to be tied with one rough shoelace, which was made from thick fabric. When it comes to the shape, the shoe was made in an organic form. I wanted it to have a feeling of nature. In the design, the location and shape of the two slots follows the style of the lace.
